Enslaved
by R. A. Linn

Feel my chains,
Hard and cold pressing against my skin,
Wear my pain,
You've experienced nothing like this.

Look at our children through my eyes,
Degraded, repressed,
A childhood deprived of happiness,
Lost to man's wicked ways,
Enslaved.

Know the punishment,
Not of cruel whip and sacrificed blood,
But the punishment.
The punishment endured.

Feel my chains,
Weighing down my freedom,
Capturing all spirit of this physical body,
Yet denying them,
My soul.

I live through it's raw beauty,
Creating unsuppressed dreams,
Hopes of everlasting peace and rest,
Hopes of what freedom might bring.

Then I will sing,
And thank the heavens above,
For the chance,
For the chance to be free,
Never again,
Enslaved.
