I Have an Artificial Eye
by Sibongeleni Zulu from Durban Technikon, South Africa
P1319
Umlazi
KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa 4031

I feel compelled to inform you that I have an artificial eye,
I can only see with one eye and I thank God for it,
I touched some game trap and it smashed my eye.

I’m tired of your questions about my eye,
Perhaps this is the reason I look at things differently,
I touched some game trap and it smashed my eye.

I sometimes see you laughing at my eye,
Grow up brothers, it is not my intention to be like this,
I touched some game trap and it smashed my eye.

I've been mocked at over my eyes,
The artificial one is small and white, they say
I touched some game trap and it smashed my eye!
