Need Help Using the Internet?

One of the struggles educators face with constantly changing technology is a lack of time to learn how to use it. Here are some suggestions for finding help on using the Internet:

Who to ask:

  1. Your students!
  2. Technology folks at your college or school
  3. Librarians
What to read:
  1. Internet for Dummies
  2. Leading and Learning with Technology and other magazines for educators
Where to look:
  1. WWWTutor from the Multicultural Pavilion
  2. Various other online tutorials
Don't Be a Lurker!

Take advantage of interactive opportunities by PARTICIPATING. You can learn by lurking and reading, but by engaging in the conversations you can challenge yourself AND make important connections.

Design a Web Site!

By far, my greatest move, educationally or professionally, was designing the Multicultural Pavilion. By putting myself out there, I give people an opportunity to connect with me, and have literally increased my colleague network by thousands. Sharing my resources and facilitating the sharing of voices and resources among others has been a wonderful professional experience as well a fulfilling personal experience. If you don't have the time, know-how or resources to design your own site, contribute something to an existing site.
