Discussion Forums:

  1. The Multicultural Forum: Web-based discussion board specifically for discussing multicultural issues and education
  2. NAME Chat Rooms: Can facilitate almost real-time discussion, if people are there together...until then, should be a bulletin board instead of chat rooms
  3. DiversityWeb Work Rooms: Discussion boards on specific issues regarding diversity in higher education including Student Experience and Development, Curriculum Transfromation and Affirmative Action
  4. LD Online Bulletin Boards: Bulletin Boards housing various discussions on learning disabilities, covering issues such as Teaching Students with ADHD, Technology for Students with Learning Disabilities, and Teaching an Inclusive Classroom
  5. Outproud! Message Boards: Discussions for educators and others from the National Coalition for Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Youth
Collaborative Opportunities:
  1. Nicknacks Telecollaborate Site: Facilitates collaboration among teachers around the world (see sample projects
  2. PedagoNet: Exchange learning resources with other educators
  3. Collaborative Lesson Archive: Search through lessons submitted by other educators, or submit your own lesson plan for others to consider
  4. Encyclopedia of Women's History: Encourages collaboration among kids who can submit their research on women to be published online in a virtual encyclopedia
First Person Interactive Opps. for You and Your Students
  1. Sidney Finkel's Page: a Holocaust survivor tells his story, and invites discourse from visitors to his page
  2. Eyewitness: A North Korean Remembers: The online autobiography of Kim Young Sik, a North Korean, sharing his memories of the Korean War and encouraging visitors to email him
  3. Home Page of the Florida Seminole Indians: Many resources, including a variety of ways to interact with members of the Seminole tribe - Email, guestbook, online editorial, etc.
Intercultural Connections for Students
  1. Cyberkids Connections: A virtual online community for children around the world to communicate via chat rooms and discussion boards
  2. Deaf Cyberkids: A site specifically for deaf kids which encourages them to share their art and their stories, connects them with online penpals, and hosts a kid's talk group
  3. Intercultural Email Classroom Connections: A service to connect teachers and classes interculturally via Email discussion forums
  4. Youth Lists from YOUTH! Be Yourself: Email discussion forums for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered youth, offering support and an opportunity to share their stories and ideas
